Probably the last one in the skate scene to hear about this, in fact, I know I am.
Nike has created a contest for skaters, surfers, and bikers in order to “get noticed”. The crews that enter in the contest are asked to submit a video via Facebook and create a buzz around their video. The “Chosen Crew” will be receiving, or should I say, living the ultimate prize: “The opportunity to live like a Nike pro.” They get everything from premium travels, exclusive events and even custom product. Just 5 minutes of footage could change your life.
Unfortunately, submissions are ending on July 29th (2 days), but that doesn’t mean you can’t help a get crew noticed! My suggestion, “The D.R.E.A.M. Crew”. Featuring skaters like, Adrian Hodge, Kechaud Johnson, Frankie Heck, Michael Tang. Help them out and give them some likes and comments on their “The Chosen Crew” profile.
Here’s a video of one of the crew members of the D.R.E.A.M. crew, Kechaud Johnson to give you a feel for his style of skating.

My buddy and I were talking the other day about how much our work lives effect our social lives and things we’re committed to. In the end, it all boiled down to one thing; “I should quit my job…”
Don’t get me wrong, I love where I work (for the co-workers reading this), but it’s hard to get everything done when you’ve got so much compiled into one full day. Eventually the workload starts building upon itself until you’ve forgotten about that one thing you love to do. And for me, that’s skating. It got me thinking, I should just put in my two weeks and dedicate 110% to skating, just to see where it takes me. Ha, yeah right! Got to pay the bills somehow. We can dream big, though.
The main purpose of this blog was to apologize to all the blog and Twitter followers out there for the lack of updates. The truth is, all of us on the Brilliance team have been pushing hard at our day jobs and haven’t put in enough time for Brilliance into our everyday tasks. That needs to change. So, from now on, there will be daily blogs (only on the weekdays because I’ll be skating on the weekends), lots of conversing throughout the Twittersphere, and a little secret… we’ve got a pretty big online contest in the works!
Hang in there, guys. We’re doing our best to manage our time and put in at least 50% towards those who care about Brilliance and what the company stands for.

We’ve all owned a pair or two of this brand. The bulkiness, the weightlessness, and excessive padding of the ever-so-famous Osiris Shoe, which made your feet feel so protected. They were actually real similar to those Moon Shoes in some aspects…
I’m kidding. Great brand, comfortable shoes, and some great skaters on the team. I actually just grabbed a pair of the Duffy LP Low’s to add to my massive shoe collection (I’ve got a problem), so I probably sound like an idiot for comparing them to moon shoes.
Anyways, they recently posted a video on their blog following one of their team skaters, Corey Duffel. I’m sure you have heard of him. He takes you around his house, his local skate park busting out some backside smiths and backside blunts, and brings you into his first and only shop sponsor called Metro. And guys before you “judge” the kid on his awkwardness, try talking into a camera yourself. Seriously, though. It’s extremely awkward.

A few of the Brilliance staff members recently attended the Zumiez Couch Tour here in Washington. Pretty epic insane skating. Check out some of the footage of the Toy Machine demo and the Best Foot Forward AM Contest.

I know this song will be playing in my iTunes while I skate for the next few weeks. So buttery is right…
LRG Films took Kid Daytona out to Puerto Rico to shoot a 3 part series with directors Derek Pike and Woodworks. Check out the first video off his Interlude LP for the single “Padma, So Buttery.”

Ryan Sheckler hit up CCS for his 2nd Annual Skate for a Cause event. This year’s cause was Autism Speaks. The event was held at the Etnie’s skate park, and the skaters tore the park up! Here’s a video of some of the highlights of the event.

I’ve always had a huge passion for this style of skateboarding. I’m impressed. Those one-footed nose manuals are astonishing!
